Corriteria Paniculata. It's originally from China and Korea and it's a tree that I really love. It has year-round interest. When the leaves first emerged, they look almost pink, and they mature to green.

The leaf is divided, so it casts a really nice shade.

Then in July, it has these amazing panicles of bright yellow flowers that can't be missed.

And then in the autumn they have these incredible bladder-shaped paper lantern-type fruits.

Quite hard to describe, but if you see them, it's something that looks very unusual.

And they're almost, yeah, bronze in colour.

And they persist all winter, so they stay on the tree, and it gives the trees of winter interest.

In autumn the leaves change colour and you get hues of gold and orange which is really

spectacular. It's quite a small tree it grows to around 8 to 12 metres eventual height so it's a

good option for a smaller garden.

You can get multi-stem specimens as well,

which create the illusion of more than one tree,

which is really useful if you're trying to save space.

This tree is also tolerant of drought,

so perfect for our changing climate as summers get longer and drier.
