I'm going to be sharing with you why I adore growing marigold carmen. Marigolds are such

joyful flowers that are so easy to grow. Gardners tend to talk about different types of marigolds,

the African, the English and the French. All are very lovely,

but many of the French marigolds are shorter and height and more compact than the others,

making them great for displays in pots and bedding. Now it's worth pointing out that these

so-called French marigolds are actually faux-French. They originate from Mexico and some surrounding areas,

which is why they enjoy our summers,

but not so much our winters.

Fortunately, they set seed readily,

so easy to keep going each year.

Anyway, it was the French who brought them over to Europe,

popularizing them with European gardeners and beyond, so I guess the name just stuck.

Marigolds are often thought of as being in shades of yellow, which can be such a divisive colour for gardeners.
