It's been a staple in the diets of millions of people around the world for centuries.

And it's in the Bible, surprisingly a lot.

In our interview today, I'm talking with author and speaker Abigail Dodds about what

something as simple as the mixture of flour, water, and yeast can teach us about God, about the

Bible, and about what it really means to be satisfied by our Savior. Abigail's new book is

called Bread of Life, savoring the all-satisfying goodness of Jesus

through the art of breadmaking from Crossway.

So today we're going to talk a little bit about the art of breadmaking and the Bible and how all of that relates to Jesus in a really,

really interesting, profound way. But before we jump in, I wonder if we could start by you

helping me to understand something that's happened,

kind of in our culture over the last 12 months or so. So it seems like during the pandemic,

I read that there has been a big surge and interest in sourdough starters. And so I wonder,

for us non-bakers out there, could you first explain what is a sourdough starter?

And then why do you think that's been so popular over the last year or so?

Yeah, sourdough starter is just flour and water.
