So then we're going to look at Nye's actual paper. So that's the basic overview here. And again, the key, key takeaway there is that liberalism, realism, neorealism, these all gave way to neoliberalism, and neoliberalism

is basically now giving way to straight up globalism in the sense of international institutions

that were put in place on the basis of the end of the Cold War,

are now going to displace even the United States who, in a sense, put them there,

even though it wasn't the United States.

It was basically the elite of the United States.

Now, remember, Nye is out of Harvard, so he represents the Eastern Seaboard elite.

He's really just speaking

for that you know rockefeller uh j p morgan you know power structure that has run the american

landscape for a long time at least a hundred years so soft power that he wrote in 1990 was

intended to respond to the notion of American decline. And his thesis is that

not necessarily America can still be an important role in bringing in the New World Order. So keep

in mind that the reason this paper is so important is that it's literally about the international

world order that's

emerging the NWO and the question is really just what is America's role going to be in it

is it going to fade away or in somebody like China or something like that come to the floor

in this paper he mentions Japan although I don't think anybody thinks Japan is a real threat to

run the New World Order he seems to think it's either the US or Japan at the time when he wrote

this and he mentions that traditional warfare is no longer as relevant as it used to be. So, you know, most battles aren't really fought on the basis of the battlefield.
