Hello, you're listening to Cheat Sheet, the podcast that cuts through the scrolling, the spin, the shouting to bring you what's happening in under 10 minutes.

0:19.9

I'm Sophie Rich.

0:21.2

And I'm Wilfred Frost. It's Wednesday the 10th of December. Here's what's going on. So the world is

0:26.1

watching as Australia brings in a ban for under 16s on social media. Could we fully see it here too?

0:32.9

Another unprecedented move from President Trump. He's called European allies decaying and weak in a fresh

0:40.1

interview. And is it the end of the road? Apparently, London could see the use of electric

0:46.6

flying taxis, fancy one of them? I'm not sure, but I like your pun is at the end of the road.

0:51.5

It's quite good, right? Did you write it yourself? No. Oh, I still like it.. Great one team. I'm a little jealous I didn't get to read it. I would have claimed

0:58.8

ownership. You should have done that probably. It's called cheat sheet for a reason.

1:04.3

Okay, I'm so interested in this story. So, I know, clear the rest of the stories. Yeah, this is, this is, this is a big deal.

1:20.3

lost access to their Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit, all of it.

1:26.9

And it's interesting how this is going to be enforced. It's not

1:29.2

going to be parents and children who will be punished if they break the van. It will be the

1:33.3

companies. So the companies risk being slapped with fines up to 50 million Australian dollars

1:39.1

if they don't comply. And look, this is going to be watched by countries around the world to see what happens. It's a bit like a test case. You know, when we spoke to the head of Offcom, Melanie Dawes, she said she's going to be watching what happens in Australia with interest. I just love this on every level because, as you say, everyone can watch and learn from it in a country that's, you know, fairly similar to ours as well. So it's a sort of ideal test case.

2:02.3

I love, as you say, that the punishment goes on the companies, not on the parents.

2:08.3

But I think what's sort of most interesting about this is it's a tackling or addressing a

2:13.6

problem that I think everyone witnesses without really getting into the free speech area.

2:17.7

Now there's a comment we have here from Net Choice, a trade group representing several
