| 0:00.0 | Welcome to a bonus episode of the Sober Motivation podcast. |
| 0:04.0 | I got my good friend Megan, aka the Soba Sister, and we're going to be talking about staying sober throughout the summer. |
| 0:12.0 | So if this is your first sober summer, this is going to be an episode you want to check out. |
| 0:16.0 | Welcome, Megan. How are you? |
| 0:18.0 | Hi, Brad. I'm doing great. Thank you for having me. |
| 0:20.0 | Of course. So I gathered a few questions from people that we'll go over. We'll just kind of give our insight. And then we'll get some tips from you about what worked for you early on and how you navigated your first summer and just kind of go back and forth on that. I think one of the first ones I found this one to be really cool |
| 0:38.3 | is how do you deal with being nervous to hang out with old friends when you're newly sober? |
| 0:44.1 | Yeah. I mean, that's a great question. And it can feel a little awkward at first, you know, |
| 0:49.1 | and you could feel very uncomfortable. And I feel like that that feeling only lasts for a little bit, though. For me, I remember |

| 1:03.3 | was just, I had anxiety. I felt like everybody was staring at me and that everybody knew that I |
| 1:09.5 | wasn't drinking and they were making up all |
| 1:11.7 | these stories about me and that's not true at all, you know? |
| 1:15.6 | And so once that half an hour passed, it was totally fine. |
| 1:20.2 | I had a great time and I drank probably 20 seltzer waters that night. |
| 1:25.7 | And but it was, it's all good. So it is, it's hard. And I think if we just |
| 1:32.6 | keep powering through, you know, you're going to realize that you don't need alcohol to have fun |
| 1:37.4 | and that you actually have a better time and that you feel great the next day. Yeah, |
| 1:43.4 | that's the best part. It is definitely,. And I've found out throughout my journey, I've just really, I know the old friends at first, you're going to be hanging out with people, but I've honestly found out that I just really have outgrown a lot of relationships for better or worse. We have different interests and, you know, things change a little bit. |
| 2:01.7 | But maybe if you're hanging out with old friends, maybe try to do something a little bit |
| 2:06.1 | different. |
| 2:07.0 | Maybe go for a walk. |
