And we are Catholic Stuff You Should Know. Thanks for joining us today. How are you doing, Father John? Doing well. Doing well. We were just catching up a little bit. I'm down in Denver. Father Jacob is always up in Glenwood Springs. First Friday confessions. And I was kind of like, oh, man, it was awesome. But it kind of throws off your day. And then you told me how much you were in

the confession. I was like, dang, this guy is actually doing it. So in multiple languages, too. So it's a good, it's a good problem to have good clientele this morning. It's great. The first Friday, we started doing a holy hour with the, because we were doing confessions already. So we decided, we'll just do a holy hour after mass as well.

Yeah.

So more, of course, people want to pray with Jesus.

That's an awesome thing.

So more people come, but then the confession gang gets longer because more people there and see confessions are available. So what used to be like about 40, 45 minutes of First Friday confessions are now, well, today was about an hour 40. So it was a good problem to have.

But I was looking at my watch because I was like, oh, we've got a 10 o'clock recording.

Yeah. I'm getting reacquainted with the kind of the confession routine. It's an amazing ministry.

It's so beautiful. But it is, um, it takes it out of

a guy. And I, I've been out of the game for 10 years. So I'm kind of getting reacquainted, um,

just with it. And I think that there's a kind of like docility to, um, anybody who comes in and anything that's said, but also the length.

Like that, that for my German soul, it's like, I'm fine to do anything. Just tell me if it's

going to be three hours. Tell me when it's going to be done. I'll do six hours, but I need to know

it six hours. Yeah, I'm like, I just need a camera outside to know, like, is it 40 people,

is it two people? And it's a good little death for me, I have to say, just because, and there's the trickle, and then the stop, and then the trickle, you know what I mean? And then it's just a funny. I'm with you. You know, I'm a little more type B. So generally, if there's nothing else coming on, I'm like, whatever, we'll sit here, we'll wait.

But I'm also like super exterior motivated and like I feel really responsible when I've got something scheduled with somebody. So as soon as I have like, oh, I've got a podcast recording on, I'm like peeking out the window. I'm like, oh, people, I thought there was one. Now there's five.

Yeah. So I was at, uh, quick, yeah, it's a good thing. We don't, if you're listening to this, we love it. Please come to confession. Um, this is why we're priests. We're happy, happy to have the lines. We're just expressing our humanity. Just a little bit of the psychology of the, uh, confess because I think that people feel like, I don't know what they think, but it's such a gift. And people's vulnerability, their contrition,

it's such a beautiful ministry. But that for me, it's just being in a box, it's like being on
