So here's some news.

Conditions for inmates have grown steadily worse since the beginning of the pandemic.

Many of the buildings are overcrowded and in a degree of disrepair.

Showers and restrooms are inadequate and unsafe.

Food is substandard and many inmates are expected to pay for their meals.

If they can't, in many cases, they don't eat.

Their inadequately supplied to the point where employees have to purchase basic things

required to get through their day that any reasonable person would expect to be provided

for them.

And violence at prisons has seen a frightening spike.

The number of people murdered in prison has skyrocketed over the past two decades, from

an extremely rare and near-on-heard of occurrence in the mid-90s to a constant looming threat

today.
