Florida's controversial bill that critics have dubbed the Don't Say Gay Bill has now been

signed into law, but the firestorm is far from over. Meanwhile, Democrats are doing all

they can to prevent a red wave this November and beyond while President Biden has now introduced

his massive budget. I'm excited to speak about all of this with my first guest, who's

making his debut appearance on this particular show. South Carolina Senator Tim Scott is

here. Senator, great to have you. Thank you, Megan. Get to be with you. Hope you're

doing well. All right. I'm doing great. So I mean, I have my glasses on today because

I'm getting lazy second two weeks and I'm excited about it. So you can't wear contacts

with regulations. But I almost wish I couldn't see the numbers next to this budget.

Huge. It's huge 5.8 trillion. All I can think is so much spending. And you explain to

me what this is about because as I understand it, mostly spending proposals and tax hikes

President Biden tried to get through before and failed to. And now he seems to trying

to be improve his chances of getting what he wants with a few carrots to Republicans like

all more defense spending and more funding for cops because he needs a win before the

midterm elections. Well, Megan, you hit the nail on the head. The bottom line is that this

is a messaging bill for election years. This is not what will happen. This is what he wants

the American people to hear about, not actually what he's going to accomplish. The truth

is that yes, I would love to see more military spending. We desperately need it, especially

in the face of global challenges around the world. And frankly, you think about the

genocide led by Putin and Ukraine, certainly we should have more resources. We should
