What's so special about smell?

It lets us detect tiny nuances and the materials around us, even the trace of things that are long gone.

Smell has a particular relation between distance and proximity.

And, you know, one way to think about this is how smells really can

seem to be invading your private space when they're particularly strong. Invading, yes.

Like, get it away from me, and you can't. It is just, you know, they're in your nostrils.
