Hi, everybody. I am so glad to have you join us today for such an important update. It was

almost exactly a year ago to the day that I had a conversation with our next guest from Ukraine.

It feels almost like a completely different world looking back on early March of

2022. And so what we're going to do today is catch up, find out how life has been, and what to

watch for next. Our guest carries many different titles, and we're going to talk a little

bit about her life throughout these titles. Ina Sofun is a mother, Fulbright scholar, professor, parliamentarian.

She's a member of the Ukrainian government.

And she's a proud Ukrainian as well.

And, you know, the last time we were speaking, it was just a few days into the Russian invasion

into Ukraine.

You were at a friend's house that you were sharing

with some former students as well. Your son had been sent to Western Ukraine, and it had

been days since you had seen him and you weren't sure when you were going to see him again.

So there's a lot of ground to cover in the last year.

But let's just start with the basics. Where are you now? And what is life like?

Well, I'm at my home. So that's already a good development. I've actually managed to get back

home by end of March. That is when I started moving back in. I also would

be spending sometimes a few weeks over the spring last year with my son in the west of Ukraine.

But yes, it's been over the last 10 months, or less, I've been able to stay at my home.

Particularly, of course, up to Kiev region has been liberated.

So that has been a good development for me.

But then over the summer in July, I guess, my son Martin got back from Western Ukraine. He moved back to Kiev first,
