I can't imagine a more direct and open statement than this to the effect that all of American

life has essentially been codified and commodified and boiled down to the equivalent of a fast

food joint somewhere where you go and you sort of schlep out increasingly more money for

increasingly worse food where the standards are pointedly at a minimum.

And really the only thing that matters is that effectively subsist on kind of the lowest

possible tier of commerce.

I mean, I like a big Mac as much as anybody else, but it's not the image that I get inspired

by when I think about the supposedly highest authority, legislative authority in the land.
