so you know what that means. Holiday shopping season. Sure, you may be tempted to buy everything

online, but many local small businesses rely on this time of year to stay afloat.

Where we spend our money matters because people matter, community matters.

And at the heart of community, are the brick-and-border small businesses that we know and love?

Coming up, we're shopping local with recommendations from Laura Klyse, founder and CEO of

The Intentionalist.

But first, let's get you caught up.

Today is giving Tuesday a day to financially support nonprofits and an important fundraising event for us

at Seattle Now and KUOW. When you donate to KUOW, you give the gift of award-winning journalism

People ride lime scooters all over the city zipping around, not always safely, and sometimes the

scooter ends up discarded awkwardly on the sidewalk.

It's an issue a lot of people are thinking about, and maybe you are, tonight there'll be a

public Q&A.

You can ask representatives from Lyme about their plans for maintaining

scooter order and safety at the Urban Community Councils of Seattle. Scoot on over to Plymouth

Church, United Church of Christ at 7 p.m. for that discussion. And prepare for nightly closures

on State Route 99 in Seattle this week.

Washdot is doing maintenance and landscaping.

The closures started last night.

They'll run through the morning of Saturday, December 6th.
