Pastor John's message this morning comes from the book of Romans chapter 6

verses 20 through 22

For when you were slaves of sin, you were free in regard to righteousness.

Therefore, what benefit were you then deriving from the things of which you are now ashamed?

For the outcome of those things is death. But now having been freed

from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit resulting in sanctification in the outcome, eternal life.

Father, I ask now that we would have a keen sense of our condition as slaves of sin apart from grace,

and that you would move on this congregation so that every person is set free from that slavery this morning by the power of the Holy Spirit and the

instrumentality of your word.

And I ask that on that path, none would fail to obtain eternal life.

So Lord come, these are weighty,

weighty matters. Give a sense of earnestness and seriousness and

wait at this moment in this congregation, I pray.

Remove all trifling and glibness.

And grant that we would sense that we stand before the living God

and that our life is short and eternity is long and heaven and hell are real.

And the matters that Paul takes up here are of infinite importance. So Grant an ear to hear, I pray, and guard me from error,

keep me faithful to the

scriptures

name.
