1st Peter 2 versus 13 to 17.

Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake to every human institution,

whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors,

as sent by him for the punishment of evil-doers and the praise of those who do right.

For such is the will of God that by doing right,

you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

Act as free men, and do not use your freedom as a covering for evil, but use it as bond slaves of God.

Honor all men.

Honor the King.

God wants to speak to us this morning through this text concerning whether we should call our president slick Willie.

He wants to speak to us concerning Rush Limbaugh. He wants to speak to us concerning

the spirit of rebellion and anti-authoritarianism in the world and sometimes in the church.

He wants to speak to us concerning the foundation of law in morality.

And he wants to speak to us most of all concerning how he relates to all of that

and how Christians under him and for him live in a neo-pagan culture or society like ours.

So what I'd like to do is take the most important thing and begin there, namely how God relates to all of these things.

The Bible is not a book about how to get along in the world.

The Bible is a book about how to live to God in the world,

on the basis of how God has lived toward us. I love that phrase
