I'm delighted to be here. Henry, who are you?

Introduce yourself and plug your book. So I am a professor at Johns Hopkins. I have a ridiculously

overcomplicated title for the professorship. And I have a book which is co-authored with

Abe Newman called Underground Empire, How America Weaponized the World Economy, which

tells you about the ways in which semiconductors, the financial system, the internet, have all

become arenas in which the US has sought to dominate, has sought to coerce other countries,

and now other countries are looking to push back, And so we explain the politics of how that works.

This is one of the most eye-opening books I've read in years. It is full of juicy anecdotes.

And we're going to scratch the surface of it in this podcast. We're going to talk about Swift, the money

system. We're going to talk about Huawei. We're going to talk about finance. We're going to talk about Swift, the money system. We're going to talk about Huawei. We're going to talk
