You're listening to the Love Over Addiction Podcast. Hey there, it's Michelle, and I am so glad that you are with me. I know that we are in the middle of the holiday season and for a lot of us

0:26.2

this season can be really difficult can't it? Particularly when we're driving along in our car

0:31.6

and a Christmas Carol comes on like the one that says

0:35.2

like the Holly Jolly Christmas don't worry I will not sing it for you because that would just be

0:39.7

atrocious and you will quickly press pause and refuse to come back to me.

0:46.4

So I'm not going to sing it for you but you know those lyrics right like the

0:50.8

lyrics and the Christmas carols that tell you that this is the best time of year and that everybody should be so happy and joyful.

0:58.0

But you're worried, you're depressed, you're anxious that they're not going to be sober this holiday season

1:08.0

or they're going to embarrass you if you're going to an event or maybe they've quit drinking or using drugs,

1:14.2

but they're still behaving really, really mean

1:17.0

and really, really poorly.

1:19.0

So you're going into this walking on eggshells, not really knowing what to expect. And I remember

1:28.2

when I was in that position I could not wait for the holiday seasons to be over so that we can go back to a regular routine

1:36.4

where I knew what to expect where you know we would wake up at the same time and go to bed at the same time and there's just some consistency.

1:46.8

So here's the good news is that my goal for you by the end of this podcast is to teach you the six ways that you can feel

1:58.7

in control during the holidays and so the next time that you listen to that music, those Christmas

2:06.5

carols you will be dancing along. You will be turning them up loud and

2:12.0

behind your wheel and singing along and dancing along and

2:16.2

thinking, yeah, this is a joyful season.

2:19.6

And the best part is, is that you're going to be able to do this, whether they decide to get sober or not,

2:26.7

whether they're acting out or not, you are going to be in control of your holidays. And one of the things I know many of

2:36.9

you know we talk about in our community at loveover addiction.com is that we don't believe you are powerless over this disease.
