It's crazy to think sometimes, but hip-hop, like as a genre, is now middle-aged by the

numbers it's at least 45 years old.

And in that time, many of us have followed the highlight real stories.

Park jams, R&D&C, breaking down barriers, Jay-Z versus Nies, cash money taken over

for the 9.9 and a 2000.

But 45 years worth of history means that there are countless stories and moments that

shape the culture that deserve a deeper look.

The Gimlet podcast's mogul is working to tell those stories.

It's now back with a new season, and this time it's going deep into the story of Miami

hip-hop and the infamous Two Live Crew.

It all starts with this concert that would change hip-hop forever.

Uncle Luke and the Two Live Crew had just performed to a packed crowd in Miami.

But just a few hours after that concert, a totally different picture.

Luke's been over the side of a police car, Lake Spread, his palms stretched across the

hood.

And then the cuffs go on.

Just a few days earlier, a Florida judge at rule that Two Live Crew's music was obscene.

And so performing their songs was now against the law.

That's why Luke was being arrested.
