Grayson was born and brought up in Chelmsford, but his father left the family when Grayson was only four years old, and his mother married the local milkman - a Tom Jones lookalike with an unpredictable temper. 0:57.6	I can fairly describe him as unique. I certainly don't know anybody else quite like him. Unique and
1:04.5	fascinating. He is an artist. He is a potter. He is more than both of those things. He's a formidable figure. He is the great
1:12.9	Sir Grayson Perry. Born in 1960, in fact in this very week in 1960, so happy 65th birthday,
1:21.0	Grayson. He grew up in Chelmsford, but home life for him was turbulent and often unhappy.
1:27.8	Grayson's father left when Grayson was about four, and his stepfather was violent and
1:32.8	unpredictable. I'm going to let Grayson tell you all about that.
1:36.5	Grayson then retreated into a fantasy world of which dressing up as a girl was an elaborate part.

1:46.0	that. So the fact that Grayson is now an establishment figure, a Turner Prize winning artist,
1:52.4	and indeed a knight of the realm, certainly the only person I know to have sat down to dinner
