In last week's edition, we spoke to singer, songwriter and theatre maker,

Corrine Pollard, about some of the places that she finds inspirational for our work.

I'd like to continue that conversation now

and talk about a wonderful project she was involved with called Spell Songs.

The initial idea for that came from a writer

that my colleague Helen Needham really admires.

I am a huge fan of Robert McFarlane.

I remember when I first came across his writing a few years ago,

it felt like an epiphany because he was describing,

oh, just so poetically the things that I actually love and care about.

One of his works, The Lost Words, is a book he did with the visual artist Jackie Morris,

where they took words from the natural world which are falling out of common music,

especially among children, words like conquer and Kingfisher. And you had the good
