Summary

Kelly here, hi. I am reposting this podcast this week because I simply do not know what else to do. After a mass shooting, that ended in 7 people (including 3 children) dead, just down the road from my home in Nashville this week, I do not have the words yet to talk about this again. Many of my close friends and specifically their children were greatly impacted by this shooting and to say that this issue being in your backyard brings it to the forefront of your mind is an understatement. I will be back to discuss more of what that is like at some point in the future, but in the meantime, I’m begging you all-no matter where you stand politically- put it to the side. This is bigger than your ego or own personal feelings. This is our children’s lives, safety and freedom. “Listen to the podcast, take the actionable steps, but also compromise and try to work together.   This is a political issue, but I think we have to do what we can to lay that down and start working together. We aren’t getting anywhere with otherwise. We all do it, but if more innocent children dying isn’t the time to unite and come together, I don’t know what is.

Sending love and healing energy to everyone in Nashville right now.

Retired US Army Veteran, gun owner and gun violence survivor, Melody McFadden, joins Kelly and Chip to simplify the conversation about gun laws and gun violence.

"I don't want your guns, because I don't want to give you my guns."

Melody tells the stories of loss she has faced at the hands of unsafe gun use and also how simple it could be to make those moments safe.

On the date this was recorded in mid June, 3,599 people in America had been shot and killed since the mass shooting in Uvalde, TX on May 24.

"You have to get a driver's license to drive a car, why shouldn't we have safety measures about owning guns?"

Melody is full of love, faith and helpful small action steps we can all take to make our country a safe place to live.
