Thank you for joining me for today's episode of Once Upon a Crime. We're in the series Sick and Murdered,

where I share stories of people who cause

others to fall ill, sometimes killing them for their own selfish game. This is part two of the

case of Marie Hilley. At the end of our last episode, Marie had been arrested for the attempted

murder by arsenic poisoning of her daughter Carol. She was also suspected of the

murder of her husband Frank by the same means four years earlier. After being released on $14,000

bail, she disappeared. Left Behind was a note that made it appear that Marie had been kidnapped.

We'll continue the story from there. There are a lot more surprises in store,

so I'm glad you came back for Part 2. You will not be disappointed. This is Chapter 4 of Sick

and Murdered, Marie Hilly, Part 2. Investigators were not fooled by the note left behind.

It was written on a piece of envelope, just like the one left taped on Marie's

back door, during the time she repeatedly called police to report hang-up phone calls and other

harassment. Nothing had come of any of those reports, and police had finally determined that all that

drama was faked by Marie. There was one more note that would be discovered that police believed also had Marie Hilly

written all over it, so to speak.

The day after Marie disappeared from her motel room, her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Sammy

Key, discovered their home had been broken into.

A pane of glass in a back door had been busted out with a brick to gain entry.

Missing from inside the home was an overnight bag as well as several items of clothing belonging to

Margaret. Some savings bonds were also taken as well as the Keys car. Left behind was a note that read,
