today's guest is Bridget Phillips and the Shadow Education Secretary

It's so much fun.

What a privilege to be, I mean I've always loved it,

as you know if you listen, regulate,

and if this is your first time, welcome. What a great thing to be able to do, to be able to interview politicians over the course of an hour.

Ask them anything I want and pick the brains of people who either do run the country or may run the country or have run the country.

It's fantastic. I genuinely, I've always loved podcasts as a listener and as a maker of them I think they're just a really good

conversation is one of the most immersive entertaining things that you can be

involved in or listen back to and the sort of podcast I really seek out are long-form interviews. I just love them.

And making this is such a joy. And this conversation with Bridget Philipson is fantastic because

to go about a whole range of things.

And particularly about what labour would do if they win and the mood around the party in the country

at the moment and the sense that the country is fed up but but are they ready to vote labour and what labour's going to do for education.

And Bridget is also a mother whose kids are going through school and the pressures on being a parent in 2024, just a whole range of things and just what

her personality is like and what it's like being a politician, a front bench one going

into an election that will be so fraught if you are a bit shy and if you're in politics to change things

but not necessarily be someone who wants the attention all the time what that feels like and we talk about her

background and her upbringing and the effect on her and we talk about class. It's just

fantastic and I'm not just saying that because I always enjoy making the show, but it's just really, just a brilliant conversation with a really talented person is something that I think we all enjoy.
