Summary

Peter Kyle has led an extraordinary life. His misdiagnosed dyslexia meant he had to sit his A Levels again at 25, going back to his old school. He'd been inspired to get his A levels in order to go to university by Anita Roddick, who he worked for at The Body Shop. It's just one of many incredible moments that contribute to his unique drive. As well as the personal there's also the political and Peter reflects on the impact of Corbynism on his local party. Peter's story is exceptional and it's a long way from finished.

Hello and welcome to the political party. Today's guest is Peter Karl, who's shadow

0:12.4

schools minister. So it's a very good time to be talking to him. He's a rising star in

0:16.2

the Labour ranks, tip to be a future prime minister. He's led an extraordinary life. And

0:21.0

we talk about that in an emotional detail. This is a fantastic, wide ranging interview with

0:26.8

someone who speaks so well. Before we come onto the details, my brilliant chap with

0:30.9

Peter, I have some very good news that I'd hinted at the other week. The political party

0:35.6

is returning to the stage permanently and it has a new home in the West End. The shows

0:41.0

will now take place at the Duchess Theatre. Obviously I've been at the other palace for

0:44.2

many years back when it was called the St James Theatre as well. We've now moved the

0:48.1

show permanently to the Duchess Theatre. So it's under corn from the Lion King. It's near

0:52.2

the common garden just off the strand. I'm really excited. And instead of being monthly,

0:57.6

it's going fortnightly. So there's loads more opportunities to come. I know so many people

1:02.3

would get in touch because when we're at the other palace, it was in quite a small room

1:05.6

in the tickets for a whole year. We just sell out and it just meant people just had no

1:08.4

chance of getting a ticket. So hopefully this means you have a far better chance. Every

1:13.9

fortnight is in the West End in a proper theatre. Isn't this exciting? The first show

1:19.8

of this new era is on Monday the 27th of September 2021. So in about a month and a half's time,

1:27.0

you can get tickets for that on the NIMACs website, nIMACstheaters.com. I've put a link in

1:32.2

this blurb in the show notes or if you go to my Twitter feed at map 4, you'll find the

1:36.0

link on there. But I can't tell you how exciting it is. Obviously we did those three specials

1:41.1

the other months at the Gary Canett the Vorderville. It was so great to be back. It was so great

1:46.0

to be doing this show specifically and doing stand up and interview and politicians and just
