Coming up on the People's Pharmacy Health Headlines, the high price of insulin has been a sore point for years.

People with type 1 diabetes can't survive without it, but steadily rising costs

have taken it out of reach for too many. Some have had to ration their medication, a move

that can harm their health. Since the turn of the century, the average

price has increased fourfold. It's about ten times higher here than in most other developed countries.

Last year, Congress passed the Inflation Reduction Act, which capped the monthly price

for Medicare patients on part-d prescription coverage at $35 a month.

That was almost 4 million people.

But about one in five people with type one diabetes

have coverage that leaves them paying hundreds of dollars a month.
