In this podcast, we're going to talk about the gallbladder and gallstones. Should you remove your gallbladder because of a stone? What causes gallstones, and what should you do about them?

First off, always check with your doctor before applying this information. I'm not telling you not to take your gallbladder out, and I'm not telling you to have your gallbladder taken out. This is just some information for you to think about.

Here are a few main symptoms of gallstones or a gallbladder problem:  • Right shoulder pain • Bloating • Pain under the right rib cage

Your gallbladder is an essential organ. There is a condition called postcholecystectomy syndrome. This refers to symptoms (sometimes life-long symptoms) that occur 40% of the time after a person goes through a cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). You could even become bile deficient or deficient in certain essential vitamins, fatty acids, and DHA.

There really needs to be a good reason for you to undergo gallbladder removal surgery. It shouldn't be because of just one little stone.

If there are too many stones, it may be that you're past the point of reversal. At this point, you may just have to have the gallbladder removed. But, if there is just one stone, there may still be a few things you can do other than gallbladder surgery.
