About a year ago, my in-laws made the most disparaging and cruel statements about my child,

their grandchild. It was so damaging and hurtful that I divorced myself from that side of the

family. They've said many things that I put aside. I was always thinking that they were simply

better than me. I had a lot less self-esteem back when this was happening, but when they made a

specific disparaging comment, it brought back all the painful things that they have said over the

years under the facade of caring. The matriarch and the patriarch of that side of the family
