Hello everybody, welcome to Three Point Perspective, the podcast about illustration, how to do it,

how to make a living at it, and how to make an impact in the world with your art.

I'm Jake Parker.

And Lee White.

And I'm Samantha Cotterill.

All three of us are professional illustrators.

And for the last 25 years, years have worked with every major publisher

and publication in the biz. We've published over 50 books and have all taught illustration at

universities. That is correct. Each week we come at you guys with fantastic illustrator interviews

or questions from people just like you. Sometimes we agree. Sometimes we

fight. But each time you learn something brand spanking new. To the death. To the death.

All right. So I wanted to kick it off. There's a discussion happening in the community,

which we, I was actually, do we need to come up with a name for the

community? I just keep calling it the community, but I feel like rabbit hole isn't good, but

that's fitting. Just I call the community the rabbits. I mean, the community is made up of the people.

Yeah, that's true.

What is it if not the people? Right. There's a discussion going on in there about how long an illustration should take, right? And, you know, this person didn't ask to be on the podcast, so I don't want to, like, out him or anything.

But what they did say is that Lee recently, she said, I heard that Lee recently finished and said that if I'll should take about 15 to 20 hours for a student.

And he takes more like five

and she says i wish taking too long and an illustration has long been the bane of my existence i know because i keep track of my files on spreadsheets and keep track of my time on tracking software

and uh the illo that she finished today took 50 hours. I'm going to post a link
