education is not a high school graduation requirement

in Washington. That could change under a new proposal from state lawmakers. KUOW's Zeki

Hamid talks with Udub's Helen Andrews about why the effort has been so challenging. But first,

let's get you caught up. You might want to check your freezer. Federal

officials are warning consumers in Washington and five other states to avoid certain ground

beef products after testing found contamination with E. coli. Idaho-based Mountain West Food

Group is recalling nearly 3,000 pounds of grass-fed ground

beef sold under the Forward Farms label with a January 13th use-or-free date. So far, no illnesses

have been reported. Travel note, if you're planning to ride the ferry anytime soon, the

winter sailing schedule is in effect starting this week.

The Seattle-Bremerton route will run a revised winter schedule because of terminal construction.

Among the changes, two Sunday morning sailings are canceled.

The Fontleroy-Roy-Vashon-South route will switch to a two-boat weekend schedule for the winter.

And if you're headed to the San Juan, that route will continue to a two-boat weekend schedule for the winter and if you're headed to the San Juan that route will continue to use the fall schedule and changes for Martin
