Hello and welcome to the Scriptures or Real podcast.

0:12.7

This is the podcast where we talk about elements of the scriptures that help them become more real for us so that we can gain more power out of them.

0:19.7

I'm your host, Kerry Mulestein, and this is a

0:21.7

shortcast where it would be just me talking about John Chapter 11. And I'm not going to spend

0:27.7

a tremendous amount of time, it really will be shorter, I think. There will be lots of people who

0:32.5

cover this, lots of other podcasts who cover this in a more full way going through everything and uh we're just

0:41.1

going to let them do that uh but we're going to focus on uh especially a theme that uh we've been

0:48.5

developing which is that the how to the the elements that make it so that people recognize that j is the Messiah and so on, and just a couple of other things.

0:59.9

So we'll just breeze over the first part of Chapter 11, which is that the Savior seems to intentionally wait to go to Bethany until Lazarus has both died and has been dead for a while.

1:36.3

carefully selects which miracles he's going to share. And this being probably the capstone miracle

1:41.5

besides the miracle of his own resurrection, this being the capstone

1:46.0

miracle. So we're going to jump down to verse 17. We're in John chapter 11, verse 17. Then when

1:55.6

Jesus came, that's to Bethany, where Mary, Martha and Lazarus lived. He found that he, that being Lazarus,

2:03.0

so he found that Lazarus had lain in the grave four days already. Now, this is significant

2:08.2

because the idea is that the body may or the spirit may hang around for three days, but by four

2:15.4

days, that's, that's the body has that's, the body's moved on, or the

2:19.8

spirit's moved on.

2:20.6

And the notion, really the thing is that, that part's a little bit fuzzy.
