Summary
In this shortcast Kerry goes over some of Amos’s images of judgment that sometimes people struggle to understand. He discusses how Amos serves as an intercessor and what we should do as a result of the judgment God asks Amos to prophesy of.

| 1:03.7 | And we see that it starts out by using kind of an idiom, I guess, a way of saying things in ancient Israel, where he's |
| 1:15.9 | going to prophesy against Damascus, but he says, for three transgressions of Damascus and for |
| 1:20.1 | four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof. So that's, that's like saying, yeah, for like nine or |
| 1:24.5 | ten things, you're in trouble, right? It's just a little phrase like that, like 99 or 100 things or whatever. |
| 1:33.1 | It's just similar to that, okay? |
| 1:35.1 | But this is what he accuses Damascus, and that's the capital of Syria. |
| 1:39.4 | So this is him talking about Syria. |
| 1:42.6 | And in verse three of chapter one, he says it's because they have |
| 1:46.6 | threshed Gilead with threshing instruments of iron. So Gilead is an area across the river Jordan |
| 1:53.4 | that is in modern day Jordan, but it was an area that was inhabited by Israelites. It was part of |
| 2:00.5 | the territory of Manasseh and so on. |
