I'm Stuart Mandel, joined, as always, by Bruce Feldman.

Later in this episode, we're going to be joined by our colleague Sam Kahn, the expert on

all things transfer portal, to talk about some of the highlights of this spring portal

window.

But first, Bruce, we have a couple interesting stories to discuss.

The funny thing is we've been debating in the past how much we should or shouldn't talk

about the NFL draft. I am, you know, Bruce is

notoriously way more into it than me. And then I got sucked in. I got sucked in by the same

storyline everybody else did. Shador Sanders plummeting. Quinn Ewer's going the seventh round,

obviously is a story as well. You've had a chance to do some reporting on that since then. I know there's a lot

of theories out there, but best of your knowledge, why did that happen with Shador? I think first there's

two pieces of it. The first one is there was a lot of speculation that you write before the draft that he would be a first

round quarterback and the coaches I had talked to were like they didn't think he was a first

round talent in terms of they saw him as as more developmental there was no like elite traits

so there's only so many places you can go as a quarterback. Obviously, the Titans were taken, Cam Ward, and then you had possibly, you know, the Giants,

but that's high to take him there, yet a few other teams of Saints.

But then the issue starts to go once he gets past teams that already have a guy is how well do you do

teams think he fits in their quarterback room and I think the piece that you know I heard from

NFL coaches over the weekend was they just you know if you're going to be in that room and you're not the starter it's really about

the starter and you have to be you know humble and modest and fit in there and can't be really a

distraction and the the thing that I was thinking about when I started hearing that is you know
