I don't care whether you're a country music star or you're not.

0:06.0

Cold calling people that you don't know and trying to convince them to buy your product,

0:11.9

especially one that you've invested years of time and thousands and thousands of dollars into.

0:16.9

Can you walk us through how you got over the rejection of cold calling your ideal and likely buyers?

0:22.4

Well, I faced lots of rejection in the music industry, so I felt like I was almost numb to that, you know, in the younger days.

0:28.6

But I don't know if it makes it easier or harder already having some type of platform because obviously you're not going to call somebody and be like, hey, do you know me?

0:37.7

I've had number one songs in Australia.

0:39.3

Like, that's just people don't want to hear that.

0:41.5

So for me, it was just, I think if people think you're genuine and confident, they're going

0:49.0

to give you a shot.

0:49.9

And I can tell you, I've spent times in the mirror, looking in the mirror and practicing my

0:54.6

cold calling to the mirror to myself. And knowing my little spiel, I think you can be confident on a call if you already have down your notes, what you're going to say, the topics you're going to talk about. And that's how I would prepare back then because I knew I was going to make a call they were going to say, okay, so why would we want to give you a shot? And then I was going to say, well, this is how I grew up. You know, my parents have a company. They've had it for 20 years, branching out to the U.S. You know, all about, I guess, all of our product I gave warranty on. So obviously they didn't, you know, there was no reason that they wouldn't take a risk with me.

1:29.3

So I just just, I had my points that I knew I needed to cover.

1:33.9

And I will tell you, though, every hundred people I called, I may have gotten five that gave me a shot.

1:40.5

It's not like I called a hundred people and a hundred people like, yeah, cool.

2:01.7

Let's let's have you make samples for us. No. Out of the 100, I called five, we'll like, okay, we'll give you a shot. And then out of the five that gave me shot, maybe one ordered. So it's not, you know, I probably called court a thousand people to get 50 people that were willing to take a look at the business. And then obviously out of those 50, I probably had maybe a total of 10 place orders throughout the year. So,

2:06.6

I mean, out of the 1,000, I got 10. So the percentage wasn't super high, but here's the thing.

2:10.8

Once I got those 10 and I made sure that my customer service was great, my product was great.

2:15.9

I had business cards in the boxes when they received it.

2:18.9

Well, every hundred buckles I sent to an association, then those hundred people that received it

2:26.0

told 100 friends about it who told 100 friends about it. And that's how the company grew from

2:31.3

word and mouth. And obviously obviously people in today's time,
