Sharon Chuter's story is incredible. We have her on the show because of the work she's doing with the Pull Up or Shut Up initiative β a movement she created β where brands are being asked to disclose not only how many black employees they have, but how many are in leadership positions. The movement has caught on quickly and many of you are demanding transparency from your favorite brands.
From graduating high school at 16 to bringing a huge mass brand to Nigeria, Sharon was born to speak out and make change. She is the founder, CEO and creative director of UOMA Beauty, a brand a little over a year old that's all about breaking the status quo. Sharon explains why this movement is essential to progress, how it will benefit black lives (and livelihoods), reveals which popular black-owned brand is not actually blacked-owned, and shares her best piece of business advice.
