Hi, friends. I'm Annie F. Downs. Let's read the Gospels. The Gospels are the first four books of the New Testament in the Bible, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.

These are the stories of Jesus Christ's life on earth, the friendships, the parables, the sacrifices, the meals, and the miracles. Each month, we get to read all four books.

But first, we get to finish this month. And this month, we're reading through the Gospels chronologically from the NIV, the new international version.

So we get to hear the stories and the order they took place, mixing together from all four books most days, which includes today.

Listen, or read along in your own Bible. And then I'll pray today. And that is it. So today is September 26. I'll be reading John 13, 31 through 38, Mark 14, 27 to 31, Matthew 26, 31 to 35, Luke 22, 31 to 38, and John chapters 14 to 17 in the NIV.

Jesus predicts Peter's denial from John. When he was gone, Jesus said, now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him.

If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself and will glorify him at once.

My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me. And just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now, where I am going, you cannot come.

A new command I give you, love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this, everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another.

Simon Peter asked him, Lord, where are you going? Jesus replied, where I am going, you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.

You will all fall away. Jesus told them, for it is written, I will strike the shepherd and the sheep will be scattered. But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.

Peter declared, even if all fall away, I will not. Truly, I tell you, Jesus answered, today, yes, tonight, before the rooster crows twice, you yourself will disown me three times.

But Peter insisted emphatically, even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you. And all the others said the same from Matthew.

Then Jesus told them, this very night, you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written, I will strike the shepherd and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.

But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee. Peter replied, even if all fall away on account of you, I never will. Truly, I tell you, Jesus answered, this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times.
