So this source of joy that Jesus gives us, the source of that joy is not simply that there

is a Son of God who has, for some reason, come into the flesh.

That this very universe was created for you and that when you were lost in its fallenness,

It has over the last century or so become so part and parcel of American evangelicalism that many Christians do not realize, wherever they stand on the issue, that the teaching of the secret rapture is a novelty.

It's a made-up doctrine that is not that old.

It certainly does not date to the early church,

and certainly not to the apostles, to Christ, or to Holy Scripture.

And yet people persist and people continue to predict the date of the rapture.
