I'm just back from Belgium for the German Marshall Fund's annual Brussels Forum,

where I sat down with Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut.

There was lots to talk about President Trump's decision on tariffs,

his move to meet with the dictator of North Korea.

Both were roiling the news cycle when Murphy and I sat down at the Steigenberger Hotel. We talked

about those topics and gun control and what makes the activism of the Parkland

kids different. I've certainly found them idealistic but their willingness to very quickly move this

debate to the ballot box is also pretty pragmatic.
