So when I was writing The Obstacles Away, towards the end, I wanted to talk about people who had been influenced by

sort of change the course of your own intellectual journey, your ethical journey. So anyways, I was looking for people

who had written about Stoicism's influence on them. And I was searching through Google books,

doing some keyword search. And I found this old book that had been written in the, I don't know,

early 1900s by this woman, Beatrice Webb, who was a social activist and, uh, sort of political thinger that I'd

never heard of. And she's raving about the influence that Marcus Aurelius's and his meditations

had had on her life. And I never heard of this person. So I did what most people do,

which is I looked her up on Wikipedia. and I mentioned her briefly there in the, in the

afterward of obstacles away. And so then this would have been in 2012, 2012, 2013, flash forward

Beatrice Webb. And I get her fascinating memoir. And I read this story that becomes a chapter in the book
