Summary

Insurance will not win the future of health by paying claims faster. It will win by influencing outcomes earlier. That’s the thesis behind Embedded Health — and it may be one of the most significant growth frontiers in insurance today. In this episode of Scouting for Growth, Sabine VanderLinden speaks with Sebastien Gaudin, co-founder and CEO of CareVoice, about how insurers are shifting from passive payers to proactive health ecosystem orchestrators. Sebastien’s journey spans pharmaceuticals, global healthcare leadership, and entrepreneurship across Asia’s dynamic digital ecosystems. Through CareVoiceOS, his team has built a modern, open insurance infrastructure platform connecting insurers with multiple health service providers to create personalised, digitally integrated health journeys. The shift is structural. Embedded health means delivering insurance and relevant healthcare services in one seamless experience — targeted to micro-customer segments, digitally enabled, and designed around patient-centred care rather than internal silos. Asia offers a glimpse of what’s possible. Service aggregation, customer-centric digital journeys, and ecosystem collaboration are already creating measurable value. Insurers are embedding health services to positively influence outcomes before a claim happens. Health platforms are embedding insurance to expand protection and monetisation. Even non-health players are exploring health and insurance as complementary revenue streams. At the same time, micro-insurance is opening access to entirely new populations who previously lacked protection — proving that growth and inclusion can move together. Yet complexity remains. Incumbents often struggle with digital capabilities and fragmented infrastructures. Cross-ecosystem collaboration requires new operating models. And while the category is accelerating rapidly, it is still too early to declare a single dominant model. What is clear, however, is this: consumer demand is strong. Stakeholder incentives are aligning. And the opportunity to transform insurance into a force that improves health outcomes — not just finances recovery — is immense. This episode is essential listening for: Health and life insurers seeking new growth levers Digital platform leaders embedding protection into services Innovation executives building ecosystem strategies Investors evaluating scalable HealthTech and InsurTech infrastructure plays Because embedded health isn’t a feature. It’s a strategic repositioning of insurance at the centre of wellbeing. And the organisations that learn to orchestrate ecosystems — not just policies — will define the next decade of growth.
