Hey, good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Tuesday. This is Seattle now. When you think of Seattle's

music scene, maybe you're thinking of Eddie Vedder's distinctive grumble, teen spirit,

or even an ultra-famous song about large posteriors. But there's far more to talk about.

There are thousands of songs that have a connection to this place. Quite a few may surprise you.

A new book narrows it down, The Sound of Seattle, 101 songs that shaped a city.

Co-authors Eva Walker and Jacob Beauty are here to chat about Seattle's musical history

and about some of the lesser-known musical heroes of our town.

But first, let's get you caught up.

A Seattle City Council Committee will take up controversial legislation this morning designed to combat prostitution along Aurora Avenue.

The so-called soap ordinance would create a new loitering law that would increase penalties in specific areas.

In response to community feedback, the Council's Public safety committee will consider amendments today,

including one that would shift the focus of the ordinance to pimps and sex buyers.

The entire Seattle City Council will meet this afternoon to discuss I-137, which would create a big business payroll tax to fund a city-run social housing developer. You may remember voting on something similar. That was

I-135, which created the city's social housing developer, but now it needs funding. The council opted

last month to delay voting on I-137, which disqualifies it from appearing on the November ballot.
