I'm your host, Jessica Mernan, and this is the Inside and Outside podcast.

I'm an author and horticultural therapy practitioner.

And with my company, Basker, I help people and businesses use nature and gardening for health,

creativity, and social well-being. If this is your first time here listening to the podcast,

here's what it's all about. I love being inside, watching TV, just as much as I love being outside planting things in my garden.

So we merge those two worlds together. The first half is outside things. We talk about gardening,

how nature can impact our brains. We talk about the rise of birding. And then we talk inside things.

Like the books we're reading, the shows were watching, and other obsessions,

like weird trends were following, internet gossip. One of my most favorite episodes we talked about the Mandela Effect, which blew my mind. And this is the season finale. The season went by so

fast. It was so fun that I felt like we had to bring a very fun guest for our finale. So I asked Emily Kirkpatrick

to join us. She is the voice and writer behind IHeartMess, which is a roundup of the best

of the worst celebrity fashion. She's on substack and YouTube. She's also been a writer for so

many publications, including ID, New York, and the New York Times, and she's

the co-founder of the lowbrow book club and co-host of the podcast Mess World with fellow

guest of this podcast, Jessica Defino. This episode is Pop Culture Pact. We play a game about

celebrity gardens. We talk about how celebrity and fashion journalism has changed over the

years and where it's headed. And Emily brought one of the best inside obsessions of the season.
