We've seen cases where young people have been groomed online, but it is rare for it to culminate in such a dreadful and violent murder.

The degree of planning and manipulation by days is shocking, and when you consider the young ages of perpetrator and victim,

it stands out as one of the most cruel, violent and unusual cases we have dealt with.

In the late morning of Monday, February 17, 2014, the emergency services were contacted.

The caller who lived in Grey's a town in Essex off the northern bank of the River Thames told the operator that a friend had been trying to harm himself with a pen knife and a struggling shoot.

The caller claimed that he was being attacked.

He had no choice but to defend himself.

In the freckah, his friend had died.

As they were told what had happened, the operator was asked not to interrupt.

I have a pen knife on the side of... sorry, in my room, adjacent to my bed, I have a chested drawers.

After shaving the TV and stuff on there, I had a pen knife on there, folded.

He picked it up, opened it and then lost control.

When paramedics from the east of England ambulance service arrived on Rosebury Road,

they were granted access to the communal entrance in the brick-built two-story block of flats.

They found a 14-year-old on the floor of the bedroom in a pool of blood.
