and I knew it at the time, so I ran off stage, and I came back with an actual box of shoes,

and pure chaos descended.

No, worse, it was like all the rules had disappeared.

When people realized improv scenes could have props, they went berserk.

The audience was on stage, no one was editing, and then it spread to other theaters, Stephan

Wolf, The Goodman, both of which already used props.

It didn't matter.

That's how in sync with cultural phenomena those places are.
