This week’s story is a true ghost of Christmas past, reaching out to us from almost 124 years to the day.

It was late one night on December 26th

1900, when a telegram was received by the Northern Lighthouse Board.

It was sent by a member of a rescue crew, dispatched to the Flannen isles, the site of the UKs most remote lighthouse, located way out in the Atlantic, beyond any sign of civilisation. 

They were sent to investigate why the light was no longer shining,

The telegram read:

A dreadful accident has happened at the Flannans. The keepers, have disappeared from the Island...
