Well, hello, everyone. Matt Williamson here. How is it going? We are now past the draft.

That doesn't mean we're going to stop talking about it. But we do have some news and notes concerning the Steelers that I just wanted to discuss here, tie up some loose ends.

I didn't do a podcast yesterday, and part of the reason was I wanted to do more work on

this Aaron Rogers tag that they laid out on them, because I'd never heard of it before.

I do think J.K. Dobbins got hit with it last year. And it only really

happens post-draft. It's a very odd situation. Now, I want to cut to the chase on it because,

well, first of all, I think Rogers will be a stealer. And in a couple months, we won't even

bring this up again. Okay. But the short of it is,

all this does is allows the Steelers to get compensation if Rogers were to sign elsewhere.

So what this means, I mean, what you kind of need to know is like, if Rogers would have

signed the day after free agency opened because he was an unrestricted free agent with

another team, the Steelers, he would have affected the Steelers' comp pick equation, right?

Now that the deadline for comp pick equation has come and gone, draft is gone,

and these are for next year's draft, by the way, folks.

This rule allows him to still affect the comp pick game.

So, if he were to sign with the Giants or whoever,

that signing would influence the ability for the Steelers to get a comp pick a year from now.

It's really all it is. It's some insurance or assurance that, hey, if you leave,

we can get something out of this still. It's a weird rule. Don't get me wrong. So I originally

thought maybe Rogers suggested it to the Steelers.

Hey, I know I'm taking my time, but slap this on me.

And at least you kind of get something in return or act of goodwill or it's none of that.
