Later this year, some universities are already making decisions to anticipate

that affirmative action will no longer be a tool for admissions.

I come to Columbia University, said by a headline to be the first Ivy League school to ditch

standardized test requirements.

That's the SATs.

Richard, you guide me to anticipating the affirmative action decision, but also how colleges are

adjusting to this immediate future.

What is your opinion of the ability of removing the SATs?

What will that do to universities?

What will that do to the decision-makers in the Dean's office about the new classes?

Well, I think it's going to be something of a travesty, but let's go back to the beginning.

The first point is that no one is going to require it, but now imagine that you're a

highly qualified well-heeled suburban applicant.
