under a number of managers in our time, some better than others. And I wonder, Boyd, what for

you, what qualities does a good manager have to have?

I think for me, Andy, the most important thing is the man management. I've worked under a number of

coaches that are very good in the field, maybe not so good at other things. But if you've got

that man management style and you can work with

the players and speak with the players, I always think it will take you that little bit further.

Players will relate to you, they'll work for you. I think that, as I said the other, there's

very, very good coaches, but when you know, when you challenge him on stuff

and you ask things that you're not quite sure of, and if you've not got that man, manage

itself on how to deal with players and put your points across, and it's very difficult.

And for me, that's why I'm going to, you know, Walter Smith, I'm going straight into him.

You know, from the very first moment you come across him,

the statures there, everything about him.

I worked with him with Scotland, you knew right away.

It was a more relaxed trip the first time we had worked with each another.

The current Cup, 2006, maybe, something like that.

You know, with Scotland, but as I said, there was a more relaxed atmosphere to that.

But, you know, that was a good thing for us as players that, you know, if he was relaxed,

we were relaxed and we went and enjoyed that tournament.
