Darkness. Darkness is all that you know. As well as you can tell, darkness is all that ever was and ever will be.

All you can remember is the darkness. No sights, no sounds. Nothing catches any of your senses. There is just the darkness.

And then, a sound.

The sound of a bell pierces the nothingness. As its sound makes itself known to you, you begin

to remember a glimmer of something more than the darkness. You begin to get a feeling

of yourself. You are not the darkness. You are something

else. And then... There it is again. A bell. Have you heard this bell before? What could

it be? And then you remember your name. Pantanin. But why are you here in this darkness?

You suddenly become aware that you are restrained. You can't move and you can't see. And all you can hear is that bell.

It grows louder and more insistent.

The bell becomes so present that now it dominates the darkness itself.

And then it stops.

And you hear something entirely different. A voice.

Ah, it seems a new sprout has entered the fold. Who are you? Where are you?

Panthenin. you wake up.

You find yourself strapped onto some sort of metal slab, or if it's not metal, perhaps some hardened stone.

It's very difficult to tell.

As you look around you, you see a room, very dimly lit, but to your eyes, it seems bright as daylight.

There are five other slabs similar to your own, and you can only just make out bodies atop each of them.
