The investigators we've met so far, Dave, Chris and Dyleen, they've gotten pretty deep into the scam.

They'd followed the money that Americans were duped into handing over to the scammers.

They'd followed the people in the US who were laundering that money through prepaid debit cards and money orders.

They'd even posed to scam victims to learn more about how and why so many people would fall for the con.

But who exactly were the scammers on the other end of the line?

Where did they work? Where did they live?

Did they operate out of dark basements or office buildings or just their homes?

I wanted to find out for myself and I wanted to actually meet the people who had been inside the operation.

So, my producer, Johnny Kaufman and I, flew to India.
