We begin in the USA because over these last days I've gathered together the anecdotes told by the Financial Times about famous franchises

and unhappy with the results recently of profits in their same stale stores.

You had alerted me to the fact that all franchises, and you do business with all of them worldwide,

are watching very carefully consumer resistance.

I noted that Starbucks, which is high end of coffee buying, is unhappy with its results

and they keep experimenting with new product to see if they can

bring people back but it's expensive new product. But then I said okay fine people are

being cautious even rich people but then McDonald's reported off

meaning that they've come up with new gimmicks to get people to come into the stores and they're not

happening and then I read this morning to come into the stores and they're not happening.

And then I read this morning in the Wall Street Journal,

restaurant changed this summer,

promoting a flurry of deals to keep registers ringing. Food manufacturers are hiking prices at a slower pace,

rolling out more discounts and introducing new products such as Star Wars themed Oreos and Super Mario shaped mac and cheese.

What is this all that up to?

Is this the slowdown that the Fed must react to?
